The Chargers’ Week 1 moneyline of -549 translates to an 84.6% implied win probability, the highest on the opening DraftKings board. That’s a much safer profile than the Cowboys’ -148 price against the Giants.
For knockout pools, the market leaves little doubt at the top. Los Angeles is a 10.5-point home favorite over Arizona. Jacksonville follows at -380 against Cleveland. Dallas, meanwhile, is laying just 2.5 points on the road in New York. That -148 line implies only a 59.7% chance before accounting for sportsbook margin, putting the Cowboys much closer to the middle of the pack than the slate’s true heavyweights.
Chargers and Jaguars Separate From the Field

No other Week 1 line comes close to the Chargers’ 10.5-point spread. Jacksonville’s 7.5-point edge over the Browns is next in line. Both teams stand apart, both in spread and moneyline.
| Team | Opponent | Spread | Moneyline | Total | Raw implied win probability |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chargers | Cardinals | -10.5 | -549 | 46.5 | 84.6% |
| Jaguars | Browns | -7.5 | -380 | 40.5 | 79.2% |
| Eagles | Commanders | -5.5 | -218 | 44.5 | 68.6% |
| Bengals | Buccaneers | -3.5 | -205 | 50.5 | 67.2% |
| Rams | 49ers | -3.5 | -192 | 48.5 | 65.8% |
| Seahawks | Patriots | -3.5 | -180 | 44.5 | 64.3% |
| Cowboys | Giants | -2.5 | -148 | 48.5 | 59.7% |
The gap between the Chargers and Cowboys is nearly 25 percentage points in implied probability. Jacksonville’s edge over Dallas is almost 20 points. For survivor pools, those are major differences, not minor ones.
Jacksonville’s 40.5 total is the lowest among the big favorites. That doesn’t guarantee a Jaguars win, but it pairs a solid 7.5-point spread with a total eight points lower than Cowboys-Giants.
Dallas Lacks the Profile of a Premium Survivor Pick
Dallas is favored, but not like a team you can trust to cruise. The Cowboys’ -148 moneyline trails Seattle (-180), Pittsburgh (-185), the Rams and Raiders (both -192), Cincinnati (-205), and Philadelphia (-218). Even Kansas City, a three-point favorite over Denver, is priced at -142, just six cents behind Dallas, despite the Cowboys giving fewer points.
That’s not just a small difference. Dallas isn’t only behind the Chargers and Jaguars; it’s surrounded by games with much tighter moneylines and spreads. The Giants’ +124 moneyline shows oddsmakers see a real chance for an upset.
The total for Cowboys-Giants, 48.5, is tied for the second-highest of the week. Only Buccaneers-Bengals, at 50.5, is higher. Rams-49ers also sits at 48.5. By contrast, the two biggest favorites. Chargers and Jaguars, are attached to lower totals of 46.5 and 40.5.
Quarterback and Injury News Add Uncertainty Elsewhere
Pittsburgh is a viable alternative on price alone, favored by 3.5 points with a -185 moneyline against Atlanta. But the Falcons have named Tua Tagovailoa their Week 1 starter, according to multiple reports. Tagovailoa beat out Michael Penix, who is coming off a torn ACL, and Atlanta kept four quarterbacks on its 53-man roster.
Seattle’s -180 line against New England comes with its own questions. Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson hasn’t practiced since an ankle injury nearly two weeks ago. If Henderson sits, Rhamondre Stevenson would take on a bigger load, with Corey Kiner the only other tailback on the roster. Henderson’s status will be updated Tuesday.
Week 1 can always surprise. Last year, the Raiders stunned New England 20-13 in the opener, then finished 3-14 and picked first overall, while the Patriots went on to win the AFC and reach the Super Bowl.
The numbers are clear. Dallas’ 2.5-point road spread doesn’t offer enough safety. The Chargers, at -549 over Arizona, are the week’s best survivor pick.
